Echoportrait
The presence of the meeting

The exhibition "Echoportrait, the Presence of Encounter" is the result of two years of research and experimentation. I have always been intrigued by the dynamics of feelings experienced by people who meet. "What do we really say to each other when we meet?" I therefore experimented with an encounter between two people through a ten-minute exchange of glances in silence. Then, the two people were invited to write a self-praise based on their experience of looking directly into each other's eyes and what it felt like to be looked at. Then the roles were reversed: the person who looked became the person being looked at, and vice versa.
In a second step, I created for each one a portrait of the feeling - in my abstract expressionist style - from the written echo-praises, what resonates in me from the person face to face, what I called an "echo-portrait".
I am therefore exhibiting a set of four "echo portraits" for each of the duo meetings.
In the same spirit, I began my family's "echo-portraits," a family tree inspired by self-praise, feelings, and memories of each member of my lineage. This collection aims to be universal; these portraits evoke family ties, and it's up to each individual to perceive their own resonance.
