The Echoportrait Collection - Duo
The "Echoportrait, the presence of the encounter" collection is the result of two years of research/laboratory work.
I have always been intrigued by the dynamics of feelings between people who meet. I ask myself this question: "What do we really say to each other when we meet?"
After seeing Marina Abramovic's performance at MoMA , I embarked on a new experiment: I invited someone to a 10-minute silent face-to-face encounter, gazing into each other's eyes. Then, each of us wrote, in a self-praise-like manner , about our experience of looking at the other person or being looked at. This resulted in four texts, as we reversed roles. I used each of these texts as a starting point to create an "echoportrait," the feeling of the encounter initiated by the self-praise. Here, I present six of these encounters.
